Staying Connected Matters

Staying Connected Matters
Activities

We can overcome the challenges of social distancing by coming together in uplifting ways. Whether you live in Santa Fe County or consider us your home away from home, let's stay connected to the places that we love through virtual and real-life experiences that can elevate body, mind and spirit. Health and safety is our number one priority, and since we're all staying at home, we thought we'd share stories with you about what makes Santa Fe County so special, in the hopes that travel will resume soon and you can visit us again.
We're united in this together!

Stargazing

Starry Skies

With some of the country's darkest skies, Santa Fe County is a stargazer's delight. And now is a great time to get out your binoculars and telescopes for use in your own backyard. It's the perfect activity for families to share. No matter where you are, take a look at the constellations, planets and stars above, as they wheel their way across the universe. The planet Venus, for instance, is currently brighter than it's been in years and the Pleiades star cluster shines brightly nearby. Wherever you might be, pull out a sky chart or use an app on your phone to find out what planets and stars are visible in your location.

Love Your Local Restaurants

Support locals

Locals love New Mexico’s famous green chile with a fiery devotion. The pepper has become such an integral part of our identity that many food experts and chile lovers consider it sacred. The profound combination of flavors burst forth in every bite—sweet, smoky, earthy and often spicy. Chile is a staple in restaurants across Santa Fe County, heaped on green chile cheeseburgers, simmered in green chile stew and smothering enchiladas and burritos. Our green chile is as treasured as the many restaurants serving it. That's why we must support Santa Fe County restaurants during this challenging time, so they continue to serve us their intoxicating green chile dishes. Many restaurants offer takeout, delivery and curbside pickup. If you can't get there now, you can always order a gift card to use at a later date. Tip as generously as you can.

While we're all staying at home for everyone's health and safety, many of our parks and preserves are closed for now. Because the peace and beauty of nature can inspire each and every one of us, we thought we'd share a popular outdoor place in Santa Fe County with you. Here's a video from the majestic Galisteo Basin Preserve to inspire you.
