Moon Hike at Cerrillos Hills State Park

Join this guided hike to learn interesting lunar facts and folklore! This hike will allow hikers to time to observe the moon through the park's spotting telescope. Be prepared to hike in low light conditions. Red light flashlights will be provided.

Date: Friday, June 19th, 2026 - 7:30pm

Location: Meet at the main park entrance, 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos village on County Road 59.

Park Information

Open every day from sunrise to 9PM. Park entrance is 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Road 59. NM residents $5 per vehicle through Sept. 30th, 2026. Accepted proofs of residency for New Mexico State Parks are a valid NM Driver's license or a current NM registered vehicle. Out-of-state visitors are subject to the permit fee of $10 per vehicle year-round. Permit fee is due upon arrival and must be exact cash or check. Follow the permit steps listed and be sure the white permit slip is visible from outside your vehicle. Park trails map here or at the entrance.

The Visitor Center is located at 37 Main Street on the corner of 1st and Main in Cerrillos Village. Open hours are 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday or by appointment. Call 505 474-0196

Cost: NM Residents permit fee is $5 per vehicle. Out of State permit fee is $10 per vehicle.

Fees are due upon arrival and must be exact cash or check. Follow the self-permitting steps listed at the fee station and be sure the white portion is visible from outside the vehicle.
