Solar Observing at Cerrillos Hills State Park

We are closer to the Sun in January than during the warm summer months. It is the perfect time to view our nearest star.

See prominences and sunspots through our specially-filtered solar scopes. Learn the science behind design of the park's analemma structure.

The telescopes will be set-up adjacent to the main park entrance near the analemma kiosk.


 Date/Time: Sunday, January 29th, 11AM. Program begins promptly at 11AM.

Location: Cerrillos Hills State Park,The park entrance is 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Road 59.

Cost:  $5 per vehicle exact change cash or check. Free with a valid New Mexico State Parks pass.
Information about the Park: Open every day from sunrise to 9PM. Park entrance is 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Road 59. Permit fee is $5 per vehicle exact cash or check and due upon arrival at the self-pay station. 

Visitor Center: 37 Main Street on the corner of 1st and Main in Cerrillos Village. Open hours are 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday or by appointment. Call 505 474-0196.
